Distribution Panels

A distribution panel is a component of an electricity supply system which divides an electrical power feed into subsidiary circuits, while providing a protective fuse or circuit breaker for each circuit, in a common enclosure. Normally, a main switch and Residual Current Breakers with Overcurrent protection (RCBO), will also be incorporated.

Distribution Panels are used in all major industries where heavy machinery is used. They serve in not only in efficient distribution of incoming power but also protect the subsidiary circuits in case of overload currents and short circuits. Some of the major industries include: Power, Textile, Iron & Steel, Flour Mills, Sugar Mills, Cement Plants and other manufacturing units.

IP44 Panels

An IP44 panel is a component of an electricity supply system which is used for supplying power used for various electrical purposes. Normally, an IP44 panel would consist of a circuit breaker or main switch as an incomer and various industrial sockets which receive the power.

IP44 panel help not only in efficient distribution of incoming power but run multiple electrical equipments (e.g welding machine) through a common source at a single point.

Distribution Boxes

A distribution box is a component of an electricity supply system which is used for supplying power used for various electrical purposes. Normally, a distribution box would consist of a circuit breaker or main switch as an incomer and various industrial sockets which receive the power.

Distribution boxes help not only in efficient distribution of incoming power but run multiple electrical equipments (e.g welding machine) through a common source at a single point.

Motor Starter Panels

A motor starter panel is a collection of star delta motor starters and direct online motor starters. Motor starters are used to temporarily reduce the load and the torque in the powertrain of the motor during startup. This reduces the mechanical stress on the motor and shaft, as well as the electrodynamic stresses on the attached power cables and electrical distribution network, extending the lifespan of the system. The complete panel receives the incoming power from a circuit breaker/main switch which then distributes the power to the different motor starters.

Capacitor Panels

A capacitor panel maintains the power factor of the system automatically by switching the capacitor banks as per the needs of the system. Normally, an APFC relay along with a bank of capacitors, contactors and circuit breaker are the switchgear components used in the designing of the panel.

Power factor is the ratio of apparent power over true power. It is 1, if the load is purely resistive, such as in a toaster, but it is less than 1 if the load is reactive, such as in a motor. This is because current is not in phase with voltage in that case. Inductive loads cause the current to lag voltage, and capacitive loads cause the current to lead voltage. Placing capacitors across an inductive load tends to compensate for the lagging power factor. (more…)
